Melk Abbey, Dürnstein & wine culture
Between Melk and Krems the Danube winds through the Wachau – a UNESCO World Heritage site with Melk Abbey, the Dürnstein castle ruins, apricot orchards and famous wine villages. Our guides tell the stories from Richard the Lionheart to the local Heuriger.
A guided tour of up to 2 hours starts at €230 (2026) and €240 (2027). This is a group rate, not a per-person price – for up to 25 people in public space. Half-day and full-day rates as well as additional hours are listed on our prices page. All prices net.
The classic highlight tour lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Half-day tours, full-day tours and multi-day tour management are equally possible. You set the duration, we build the programme around it.
We provide guides in more than 20 languages, including German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Polish, Russian and Japanese. Just tell us which language you need.
The meeting point is entirely up to you. Popular choices are Melk Abbey, the cruise berth in Dürnstein or Krems. River cruise and coach groups are met directly by the guide.
The classic full-day version: Melk Abbey in the morning, then a boat or coach ride through the Danube valley to Dürnstein, and Krems with a wine tasting in the afternoon. Your guide accompanies you throughout.
In Austria, tourist guiding is a regulated profession. All our guides in the Wachau are state-certified tourist guides.
Highlight tours can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the date (14 days in Vienna), special themed tours up to 14 days and full-day tours up to 21 days in advance.
Send us the date, time, language and group size via our contact form or give us a call. Our booking hotline is available around the clock and we usually reply within a few hours with a concrete quote.
Which tour would you like? Tell us what you have in mind and we take care of the rest.
