On foot through wooded paths up to the Linz landmark
Rather than taking the railway, this tour climbs to the Pöstlingberg on foot. Wooded paths and viewpoints lead up to the pilgrimage basilica, rewarding you with a sweeping view over Linz and the Danube.
For reasonably fit guests who want to experience Linz actively and earn the view from the Pöstlingberg on foot.
Hauptplatz, your hotel or cruise berth
The climb from the Danube riverbank to the Pöstlingberg gains around 250 metres of elevation on forest and hiking paths. The path is walkable throughout, though steep in places.
Comfortable shoes with good grip are recommended, as some sections are unpaved and can be slippery after rain. Regular trainers are usually fine in dry weather.
Climbing on foot is less pleasant in the rain; as an alternative, the route can be shortened or the Pöstlingbergbahn can be used for the ascent instead. The guide will discuss the best option with you shortly before the tour.
