How much climbing does the hike involve?

That depends on the stage chosen, but expect several hundred metres of ascent. We choose the route together with you beforehand, to match your fitness.

What is the terrain like, do I need proper hiking boots?

The Welterbesteig runs over forest tracks, paths through the vineyards and some steep, stony sections. Hiking boots with good grip are essential, and trekking poles can help.

How do we get back to the start after the hike?

Depending on the stage, the river ferry, a local bus or the Wachaubahn train are options for the return. We discuss the best option with you before the tour.
